Jessa Valentine

Leading grantmaking that builds rigorous, relevant, and useful evidence about policies, practices, and programs that warrant scaling.

Jessa Valentine is the deputy director – learning and impact. In this role, she oversees our investments in validation grants focused on determining the effectiveness of postsecondary education and workforce training reforms, along with identifying the conditions that contribute to success. She joined the organization in 2022.

Previously, Jessa was director of research and evaluation with DVP-PRAXIS, where she provided oversight across the company’s portfolio of evaluation projects in postsecondary education and workforce development. She has also held research positions with the Wisconsin Center for Education Research and the Center on Wisconsin Strategy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Raised in California, Jessa received a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was a predoctoral fellow in education research funded by the Institute of Education Sciences. She also holds a master’s degree in Latin American studies from the University of California – San Diego and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University.
