Classifying Community College Programs by Post-Completion Success in Transfer and Workforce
The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program and the Community College Research Center (CCRC) have released three new tools designed to help colleges assess which of their programs yield good outcomes for learners. The tools help college leaders collect and make sense of data on the programs that lead either directly to a well-paying job or result in strong transfer outcomes at the bachelor's degree level. That assessment can help leaders redesign, or even eliminate, programs that aren't serving learners well. With support from Aspen and CCRC, colleges in the Unlocking Opportunity initiative have been using these resources to transform the mix of programs they offer and strengthen advising, leading to improved and more equitable learner outcomes.
