Strategies for Scaling Multiple Measures Assessment: Lessons from Arkansas

Drawing on work from state-level staff at Arkansas Community Colleges, the Arkansas Division of Higher Education, and several Arkansas colleges, this brief describes the process of adopting Multiple Measures Assessment (MMA) in a state with decentralized governance and presents five state-focused strategies for the scaling of MMA. Studies have shown that MMA can lead to increased enrollment in and completion of college-level courses, potentially reducing barriers for learners who may struggle with standardized tests or who are returning to postsecondary education.
