Preparing Incarcerated Learners for Careers in Technology

The LaunchCode Foundation|$967,700|12/2020 - 12/2023
This grant supports The LaunchCode Foundation in expanding access to their foundational coding/web development training and employment program to incarcerated students in several Missouri prison facilities. The goal of the project is to increase workforce training opportunities and improve employment outcomes for incarcerated adults while providing a pathway to further education.

Building Stackable Credential Pipelines that Support Equity and Provide Pathways

The RAND Corporation|$483,900|10/2021 - 12/2023
This grant supports The RAND Corporation in examining stackable credential pipelines in two states to determine whether learners from low-income backgrounds benefit from stackable credentials, whether they face barriers in accessing these pathways and which institutional and system level policies and programs strengthen equity. The goal is to inform efforts within the two states and nationally to build effective and equitable stackable credential pipelines for learners from low-income backgrounds.

Building Executive Leadership Capacity

Alliance for Higher Education in Prison|$130,000|12/2022 - 12/2023
This grant supports the Alliance for Higher Education in Prison in building executive and organizational capacity in its emerging role as a field convener and resource hub for postsecondary education in prison programs nationwide.

Support for EWA Training on Postsecondary Education Topics

Education Writers Association|$150,000|5/2023 - 12/2023
This grant supports the Education Writers Association in strengthening the quality of national postsecondary education media coverage. The grant supports a mix of programming that focuses on removing structural barriers to postsecondary education success for learners from low-income backgrounds.

Building Support for Women Community College Leaders

New Venture Fund|$75,000|9/2023 - 12/2023
This grant supports the National Center for Inquiry and Improvement in planning a support network for women community college presidents. Planning will include a convening to engage women leaders — including women of color and representatives of rural institutions — to outline needs for support as they navigate increasingly challenging operating environments and obstacles in trying to advance student-centered reforms.

Understanding the Landscape of Higher Education in Prison

Alliance for Higher Education in Prison|$1,100,300|12/2021 - 12/2023
This grant supports the Alliance for Higher Education in Prison in building local and national data infrastructure for the field of postsecondary education in prison, specifically centering ethical and equity considerations in the collection of student-level data.

Strengthening Implementation of Equitable Placement Policy Reform at Community Colleges

This grant supports Campaign for College Opportunity in strengthening implementation of equitable math placement policy to increase student success and close racial/ethnic equity gaps for students in California.

Evaluating the HBCU Adult Learner Initiative

UNCF|$74,000|12/2021 - 12/2023
This grant supports UNCF in evaluating the Adult Learner Initiative, an initiative designed to help five Historically Black Colleges and Universities in North Carolina identify and eliminate barriers that prevent Black rural adult learners from low-income backgrounds from earning a degree or credential.

Different Voices of Student Success: Focus on Solutions

The Chronicle of Higher Education|$750,000|12/2022 - 12/2023
This grant supports The Chronicle of Higher Education in developing content for its Different Voices of Student Success online resource center. This resource will showcase the voices of underserved students and identify barriers that exist among students, faculty members and leaders. It will also share best practices for improving student completion rates, upward mobility and the reskilling of workers.

Evaluating Digital Pathways Transformation Cohort of Rural Community Colleges

Achieving the Dream Inc|$240,000|12/2020 - 12/2023
This grant supports Achieving the Dream in building a cohort of six rural community colleges going through large-scale institutional change to prepare and increase the number of low-income learners that graduate and enter the digital economy. This grant will support the evaluation of this cohort and will build a body of evidence outlining key success factors for supporting rural community colleges and learners.
