Trustees, Innovation, and Pathways to the Future of Work
The Association of Community College Trustees and New America argue there has never been a more important time for community college trustees to understand and support their institutions’ contributions to science and technology-based economic development, emerging technology sectors, and regional innovation ecosystems. Trustees already play important roles within their institutions, connecting them with the community, providing stability during times of transition, and advocating for their institutions’ roles in job training related to emerging technologies. The more trustees understand industrial policy investments and how states and economies can leverage recent federal investments in science, technology, and infrastructure, the better positioned they will be to help learners get on pathways to good jobs and thrive in the innovation economy.
